Prada a Tope is a versatile producer known for its frontier spirit and as the father of Bierzo wine.
Owner José Luis Prada is the son of a Bierzo tailor. In his youth, he traveled around Europe in a colorful car inspired by a water buffalo, inscribed with the words "Prada a Tope!" (Prada is the best!), which also serves as the winery's name. He later purchased an old mansion in his hometown of Bierzo and renovated it into his own utopia, incorporating a winemaking facility, restaurant, hotel, and direct sales shop. It has become a beloved local spot. At the same time, he became a pioneer in Bierzo, producing his own wines and a variety of bottled foods with traditional local flavors. From the very beginning, he has valued tradition, committed to crafting everything by hand, and committed to using only organic ingredients. His strong personality and identity have led to the creation of numerous unique products and wines, and together with his young and talented staff, the producer continues to grow.
Prada Selection Red Wine
PRADA SELECTION
Variety: Mencia 100%
Vinification: Wild yeast. Fermented in stainless steel, then aged for 13 months in French and American oak. Finally, 12 months in bottle.
○. A red wine made using only grapes from selected plots, with plenty of red fruit and soft tannins.
Deep cherry red with hints of licorice in the background. A well-balanced wine with a long finish.
170 Miedros Red Wine
170 MIEDROS
Variety: 100% Mencia
Brewing: Stainless Steel Ganzo
○ Fresh, latest wines that reflect the winery's individuality and history.
-The name comes from the fact that in the 18th century, 170 miedros (32,540 liters) of wine was stored at its current location each year.
The aroma of roasted fruit and spice is balanced by firm tannins and fresh acidity.
Prada Clareterosado Rosé Wine
PRADA CLARETE Rosado
Variety: Mencia 50% Godello 50%
Brewing: Using natural yeast.
Before fermentation, two types of must are mixed: Godello and Mencía, which have been macerated with the skins to extract the color.
○. A bright cherry color.
The citrus aromas of Godello and the red fruit aromas of Mencía combine to create a well-structured and pleasant finish.
Prada San Martin Godello white wine
PRADA SAN MARTÍN GODELLO
Variety: 100% Gochillo
Acidification: Fermented in two 500L French barriques, then aged for 12 months, then aged for 2 years in bottle.
○.A rich, barrel-aged white wine made from high-quality grapes from the San Martin vineyard.
- Aromas of coconut, vanilla, pineapple and citrus fruits.
The mouthfeel is soft, with high acidity and a long, voluminous finish.
Prada Godillo white wine
PRADA GODELLO
Variety: Godello
Vinification: Using natural yeast. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged on the lees for 3 months.
◎. A Godello with the fruity flavor and orange nuances typical of inland Bierzo.
- The sweet aroma of citrus, pineapple and tropical fruits spreads.
The fruitiness and well-balanced acidity are pleasant, and the overall taste is dry with a slight bitterness.
